Forschungsschwerpunkte

 1. Traumafolgestörungen

- Entwicklung innovativer Therapiemethoden zur gezielten symptomatischen Behandlung einzelner Aspekte der Traumafolgestörungen. So können z.B. visuospatiale Paradigmen mit Hilfe von „Tetris“ die Belastung durch traumabedingte Intrusionen verringern; unsere  Cognitive Bias Modification App hilft, dysfunktionale Kognitionen nach Traumatisierung

abzuschwächen. Diese Forschung umfasst abgeschlossene und laufende Grundlagen- und klinische Studien. Kooperationsparter sind Prof. Emily Holmes (Uppsala) und Dr. Marcella Woud (Bochum).

- Untersuchung der Entstehungsbedingungen von Intrusionen und mögliche neuronale Pathomechanismen (z.B. Defizite in mentaler Rotation oder Musterunterscheidung, neuronale Signaturen von Flashbacks, Differenzen in Volumina der grauen Substanz); dies findet in Kooperation mit Prof. Nikolai Axmacher (Bochum) und Dr. Jan-Christopher Cwik (Köln) statt.

- Erforschung epigenetischer Aspekte nach komplexer Traumatisierung (in Kooperation mit Prof. Robert Kumsta, Bochum).

2. Psychotherapie/Versorgungsforschung.

Ich bin lokaler Studienleiter und Mitkoordinator der MEPP-Studie (Multizentrische Effectiveness-Studie stationärer psychosomatisch-psychotherapeutischer Behandlung in deutschen Universitätskliniken). Im Rahmen einer prospektiven

multizentrischen Untersuchung wurden über 2000 Pat. von insgesamt 22 psychosomatischen Universitätskliniken im Hinblick auf den Behandlungserfolg untersucht. Aktuell läuft in unserer Klinik die Datenauswertung für die Bereiche Traumafolgestörung, Essstörungen und Psychodiabetologie.

Psychodynamische Prozesse (unter anderem  Verdrängung, Träume, Konflikte, dort neurobiologische und experimentalpsychologische Untersuchungen an Gesunden und Patienten), Erkennung und Regulation von

Emotionen, Alexithymie, neurobiologische Untersuchungen bei Menschen in Psychotherapie, emotionale Prozesse in der Interaktion zwischen Mensch und Computer,  psychophysiologische Untersuchungen von Computer-Nutzern.
